Convert & Faith Issues / Participation in the local parish as a catechumen

LOL - I see that the Greek Orthodox church I'm visiting is no different than other churches I've been to, in that if you happen to mention to someone that you have a talent for _____ (fill in the blank), word will get around and you will then be recruited for something within the church  ;D.  (And, YES, one should want to use their talents for the Lord!)

We had a special liturgy for Thanksgiving this week; the attendance was small, and we only had 2 choir members.  Someone (who knows I sing) suggested I go and help out the other two folks who were singing, but I didn't think it was my place since I have yet to join the church and right now I'm sort of "unofficially" a catechumen.  I found it neat that I was encouraged to join in with the choir, but just thought I should run that by Father first. Maybe what a catechumen is allow to do/not do, as far as participation in a local parish varies from church to church . . .don't know.

Convert & Faith Issues / Omniscience of God the Son

Matthew 24:36 "But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."
We know that God the Father is omniscient, but from this passage it appears that God the Son is not. Is God the Son omniscient?

I'm sure your evening prayer is just fine, so I wouldn't fret too much.  Praise God, give Him thanks, ask for His forgiveness, pray for your enemies, and ask for God's guidance.  This is what is important.

However, the Hours' prayers are wonderfully spiritual and fraught with meaning, and when one can pray and feel the words within their heart, there is such a spiritual reward.  This may take some time. Pace yourself in diving in, because Orthodoxy is a way of life, not building made with bricks and mortar for which one goes to partake of ancient rituals, but a spiritual journey serving God.

May you have a blessed Advent.

I know this resource is Russian Orthodox; I came across it online. I'm visiting a Greek Orthodox church, however.  Father hasn't really assigned me a structured prayer rule.  I've told him that I've been using a booklet called the St. Philip's Prayer Manual (Antiochian).  It's a little more in depth than the little red Orthodox prayer book the Antiochian church puts out that I purchased at our church bookstore; that is what I started out with many months ago.

Anyway, I thought it would be nice to start to pray a small compline in the evening instead of the evening prayer I've been doing.  I still want to speak to Father about it.

I don't know if they have any rules in the Russian Church, but there's certainly no issue from from any of the Oriental Orthodox perspectives.

I came across these below . . .

It may seem like a weird question, but can an individual do a reader service (at home, it is just myself) or do you need to have at least two people to pray these?
